Jenna and I are over the moon to announce the birth of our baby Eleanor!
Something of geological magnitude has happened! Jenna and I are over the moon to announce the arrival of our first child!
Our beautiful daughter, Eleanor Joy (aka Pebble) was born a couple of weeks ago. Mother and baby did superb after a hectic but fairly rapid labour.
Pebble is a little bundle of perfection, and Jenna and I are settling well into parenthood, albeit fairly stressed!
The geology-themed nickname, Pebble, comes from our 12-week scan earlier this year. When the midwife told us the baby was 5.4 cm long I mentioned that was pebble-sized according to the Wentworth grainsize chart, and Jenna loved it! She wasn’t so keen on the subsequent cobble or boulder classification though, so pebble it is even though she is much bigger now.
Whilst her official name is Eleanor, Pebble has definitely stuck as a nickname (whether she likes it or not in later life!), and everyone seems to refer to her as Pebble, including the midwives and doctors during labour!.
I want to say a massive thank you to the amazing midwives, doctors, and other medical / non-medical staff who have helped us during pregnancy, labour, and trying to figure out how to be parents! They are incredible, and experiencing it first hand makes us realise how lucky we are.
We also want to thank our close friends and family who have given us so much love and support, making parenting so much more manageable. We love you all.
And thank you for all of your love and best wishes. Apologies if you have messaged in the last few weeks - I will get back to you as soon as I can. I am back at it now with Cornwall Geologist and at Geevor, and Geowalks are returning in November. Keen an eye out on the website and social channels for updates.
The world has a budding musical geologist!
