About the event

Venture along the coast around Botallack in the far west of Cornwall, known as the "Tin Coast”. It is the perfect place to experience how Cornwall's geological past had its biggest influence on the landscape we see – mining.


What to expect

Mineral Deposit Geology - learn about the unique geological processes that naturally enrich metals like tin and copper in the Earth's crust, and how these natural phenomena gave Cornwall such rich mineral deposits. Get your hands on some rocks and minerals, and learn how to identify them.


Cornish Mining - explore the engineering prowess of Cornish miners, and how techniques they pioneered revolutionised global industry. Experience the iconic Crowns engine houses that powered mining deep out under the sea, and the remains of surface processing works for extracting metals from the rock.
